This summer I had the exciting opportunity to work with Extreme Makeover Home Edition’s Design Production team to create an important piece of a house in my own community. Lindsay and CJ McPhail have had such an impact on the community by putting together a Sparrow Club chapter here in Southern Oregon. The Sparrow Club is an organization to adopt out children with medical needs to a school. That school then does community service while earning money to offset medical bills for their Sparrow.

After beginning the chapter, though, the McPhail’s oldest son, Sawyer, was diagnosed with autism. It was a difficult adjustment for Lindsay and CJ, and they ended up turning to the Sparrow Club for their own son. But if that isn’t difficult enough,

Thatcher, the middle son was also diagnosed with autism. The boys are both on different sides of the autism spectrum, so attending to both their needs is really something.

I was so blessed to be able to create illustrations to ease some of challenges Sawyer and Thatcher face each and every day.
